Thursday 16th Feb
Heathrow - Hong Kong
Good flight - took off 1/2hr late but made it up with tail
wind/jet stream. Landing v good.
Hotels
v busy but got one for 78 usd p/night. Had to find where to get train tickets
using visa as all machines only take hk$. Paid on my visa and agent asked if we
were partners! - NO - just good friends. Train was fast and only took 30 mins.
Used hsbc cash machine and got hk$. Strange using atm as the keypad is back to
front. Taxi's are all toyota's running on lpg and cheap.
Hotel
only short journey and it's a four star - not quite what we had planned for a
backpak tour. Wash and brush up then off to causeway bay as we had been told
that this was the centre of the electronic shops.
MTR
is the underground system and fares are between 4 and 15 hk$. Had a look at a
few camera shops - prices good just no stock of canon s45. Had 1st meal -
MacDonalds - onto another camera shop. Did a good deal for two camera's, paid
with visa then they found out had none in warehouse. So ripped up visa slip and
would phone next day. Getting late now so found nightlife and drink. Ended up in
Joe Bananas with jug of margarita and snack. Then onto another bar with live
band and got talking to a few people who live local.
Eric
owns clothes shop and also Katy and Martin.
Martin
just happened to play hockey in St. Albans of all places. They took us onto
insomnia club after and more drinks were had.

Don't
remember leaving or the taxi ride back to hotel but did get
piccy
of Angelo on floor of lift??
Do remember talking to big white telephone for a few hours
though.
Friday 17th Feb
Surfaced at 1pm and then found that it was 5am when we got back to room
last night. Note to self:
will not get shitfaced again!!! Took mtr to shop for more cameras - nothing. So
headed to Kawloon for more. Final got good price and happy. Walked to peak
tramway and took ride to top. Wonderful views of hk island.
Had coffee and meal then back down. Quick trip to hotel and
charge cameras.

To be continued.....
